3d Finite Element Simulation of a Material Accumulation Process including Phase Transitions and a Capillary Surface

چکیده
In this article, a 3D finite element simulation of a material accumulation process based on rod end and blank end melting is discussed. This process represents the first step of a two-level cold forming process in microrange and can be modeled mathematically by coupling the Stefan problem with the Navier-Stokes equations including a free capillary surface. Numerical results for melting the tip of a wire and a thin metal blank end plain as well as the accumulation of material along a pierced blank are presented.

Finite element simulation of pyroplastic deformation, anisotropic shrinkage and heterogeneous densification for ceramic materials during liquid phase sintering process
Pyroplastic deformation is a distortion of the ceramic shape during the sintering process. It occurs because the flow of the vitreous phase at high temperature and the applied stress due to the weight of the product during sintering process. The aim of this paper deals with describing a numerical-experimental method to evaluate the pyroplastic deformation, to predict the anisotropic shrinkage a...

The evaluation of a free fluid surface in a porous medium has several mathematical applications that are important in industries using molds, particularly in the fluid injection process. The vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) process is a promising technology in the primary composite industry. An accurate computational simulation of the VARTM process would be a cost-effective tool i...
متن کاملFinite element simulation of solid-liquid phase transitions with a free melt surface
Introduction. The Collaborative Research Centre 747 “Micro cold forming” studies aspects of the production of micro components. Motivated by the engineering application of melting the end of thin wires by laser heating in order to accumulate material for a subsequent forming process, we study the melting and solidification of material with a free capillary melt surface. The model leads to a cou...
متن کاملAn Initiative Plan of the Equivalent Model for Simulation of the Welding Process
Many researchers content themselves with the 2D simulation of welding process instead of the 3D simulation, because of the time and the cost factors of the latter. In this research, the number of elements and nodes are reduced by an initiative plan (defining an equivalent model) for the simulation of welding. The welding process has been simulated by an uncoupled thermal-mechanical finite eleme...

In the present research, the effects of spot-welding process parameters on the nugget diameter and electrode penetration depth of spot-welded joints were investigated. To achieve this, a spot-welded joint of three-thin sheet low carbon steels (same thicknesses of 0.8 mm) was simulated as an electerical-thermal-mechanical coupling of 3D finite element model. After validating the finite element s...
